Managing your sales
There are two principal ways of accessing sales-related data in Autotask, sales dashboard tabs, and the search pages of sales-related entities.
Best Practice: use sales dashboard tabs
Whether you are a sales manager or a salesperson, Best Practice for managing your own sales or the sales of an entire territory is from a sales-related dashboard tab. Sales tabs and the widgets displayed on them can be configured to display exactly the slice of data that is relevant to your role in the sales process.
Sales-related system tabs
To get you started, users with access to CRM are assigned at least one tab by default:
- If you are a salesperson with access to CRM and "Mine" object permissions, you are assigned the Salesperson tab
- If you have access to CRM and your object permissions include “My Territories” or “All”, you will additionally see the Sales History and Sales Manager tabs
For an overview of system tab assignment, refer to System tab assignment.
Two additional tabs are available (just not displayed by default):
- CRM Dashboard (by Resource)
- CRM Dashboard (By Territory)
If you would like to display these tabs on your dashboard, you can easily add them. Refer to Adding a tab.
To make tabs even more relevant for your job, tabs can be filtered by resource, territory and other parameters. Refer to Tab settings and tab-level filters.
Sales-related widgets
These tabs all display sales-related widgets. Many widgets appear on multiple tabs. For list of sales-related widgets, refer to Opportunities widgets and Quotes widgets. You can add widgets from the widget library to any of the sales tabs, create custom tabs, and create completely new widgets. Refer to Managing dashboard widgets.
Widgets are interactive. You can click a number or a graphical element, and a table with the underlying data will open. For an introduction to widgets, refer to About dashboard widgets.
Entity Search Pages
Similar to other Autotask entities, sales entities can also be managed from the entity search pages. All users with CRM access can access the Opportunity and Quote Searches. If your instance of Autotask also has the Procurement feature enabled, the Sales Order search will be available, as well.
Refer to the following topics:
- Searching and managing opportunities
- Searching and managing quotes
- Searching and managing sales orders
Unlike widgets, which can be understood as a set of permanent search and filter criteria, search pages are used for one-off searches. Filter criteria must be entered each time.
