Downloading and installing the MS Outlook Extension

The Outlook extension must be installed by each user, but downloading it requires admin permissions.

Downloading the Outlook extension (administrator)

To download the Outlook extension, do the following:

  1. Go to > Admin > Features & Settings > Application-wide (Shared) Features > Downloads.
  2. Click the arrow in the Download column. If the arrow is not visible, contact Kaseya Helpdesk.
  3. Distribute the ZIP file to all Autotask users in your company who will be using this extension, and instruct them to install it.
  4. Repeat as newer versions become available. Currently, Outlook extension v3.5.1.1 or later is required.

Installing the Outlook extension (all users)

Your Autotask administrator will make the Outlook extension ZIP file available to you. To install the extension, do the following:

  1. Extract the files from the zip folder.
  2. Double-click on the Windows Installer file to launch the Setup Wizard.
  3. You must have .NET Framework 4 or higher installed on your desktop. If you do not have .NET Framework 4.0 or higher installed on your desktop, you will be prompted to install .NET Framework through the tool. You can also download the most recent .NET Framework from Microsoft's website at the following URL: https://www.microsoft.com/net/download/dotnet-framework-runtime

If you are installing the Autotask MS Outlook Extension for the first time, you will be prompted to install the Autotask certificate.

  1. You have now completed the installer. Please use Windows Update to check for any updates to your .NET Framework.

Managing the devices that can access Autotask from Outlook

Users can install the Outlook extension on multiple devices Your Autotask instance may be configured to use one of the following terms instead: Asset, Configuration Item, Installed Asset, Installed Product.. To enhance security, we have added a tab to the user Settings page that lists all devices that are configured to use the Microsoft Outlook Extension. On this tab, you can close an open session and remove access for a listed device.
