Allowlisting IP addresses

A number of Autotask activities require that your Autotask instance can communicate successfully, including:

  • responses to API calls
  • email notifications Autotask is sending on your behalf
  • Active Directory integrations with LDAP

To ensure that you are able to receive email notifications from Autotask, we recommend that you add an SPF record to your domain and add Autotask IP addresses to your allowlist.

NOTE  SPF records and allowlist entries might be managed by your provider. Due to the wide range of hosting and email solutions available, Datto cannot provide vendor-specific guidance about how to create allowlist and SPF entries. If you are unfamiliar with how to do so, contact your email or webhost for assistance and provide them with the information in this article.

Allowlisting applies to mail filters such as those used to filter spam. Active Directory integrations with LDAP also use IP ranges that you should allowlist.

Create an email SPF record (for email)

Some spam-filtering systems might classify the method Autotask uses to send email notifications as spoofing. To make sure notifications are delivered successfully, create an SPF record in your hosting solution's domain name system (DNS) for all domains that will send mail from the Autotask instance on your behalf. An example of an SPF record entry is:

EXAMPLE   customerdomain.com. 18000 IN TXT "v=spf1 include:autotask.net ~all"

Configure DKIM authentication settings for domains used in Autotask

For a higher level of trust for outgoing emails, Autotask is supporting DomainKeys Identified Mail (DKIM) or Domain-based Message Authentication, Reporting & Conformance (DMARC). Refer to Managing Domain Settings.

Add Datto data centers and address ranges to your allowlist

If you know the name of the data center that hosts your Autotask instance, you only need to add its address range to your allowlist.

NOTE  To ensure that your customers can receive notifications from Autotask, advise them to create the same allowlist entries.
