The Datto Network Manager Integration
About the Datto Network Manager Integration
The integration between Datto Network Manager and Autotask has two main functions:
- With the appropriate configuration, alerts generated in Datto Network Manager will create tickets in Autotask. Refer to Creating ticket alerts from Datto Network Manager.
- With the appropriate configuration, devices in Datto Network Manager will create devices in Autotask and continue to update those devices as long as the integration remains active. Refer to Creating and managing devices from Datto Network Manager.
You do not have to use both functions of the integration. You can set up the integration to generate tickets from alerts, or to create and manage devices, or both. Some elements of the configuration are done in Autotask, but the majority of the configuration steps will be completed in Datto Network Manager. For more information on the steps in Datto Network Manager, refer to Configuring the Datto Networking Autotask integration in the Datto Networking online help.
Using the Datto Networking Integration to create ticket alerts offers the following benefits:
- After mapping your Datto Networks to organizations in your Autotask instance, you can select which Datto Networking alerts will automatically generate alert tickets in Autotask.
- You can map the Datto Networking Alert Severity values to Autotask ticket priorities.
- Alert ticket fields are pre-populated based on the editable settings in the system Datto Networking Alert ticket category.
- If you choose to also map Datto Network Manager devices to devices in Autotask, tickets created from Datto Network Manager alerts will automatically be associated with the correct device in Autotask. Refer to Creating and managing devices from Datto Network Manager.
- Autotask workflow rules for tickets can use the Created from Datto Network Manager Alert condition.
- The Created from Datto Network Manager Alert condition is available for filtering and display in Autotask widgets and tables.
Using the Datto Networking Integration to create and manage devices offers the following benefits:
- After mapping your Datto Networks to organizations in your Autotask instance, you can select which device types to map to Autotask device categories. Unmapped device types will not be synced.
- Fields from the Datto Network device record will be visible in the Autotask device record.
- Data from the Datto Network Manager device record will update the Autotask device record daily.
- If you choose to also have select Datto Network Manager alerts create tickets in Autotask, these tickets will automatically be associated with the correct device in Autotask. Refer to Creating ticket alerts from Datto Network Manager.
- Autotask workflow rules for devices can use the Associated with Datto Network Manager condition.
- The Associated with Datto Network Manager condition is available for filtering and display in Autotask widgets and tables.
How to set up the integration . . .
To initiate the integration between Datto Networking and Autotask, you will need to complete the following steps in the Datto Network Manager. For more detailed information, refer to Configuring the Datto Networking Autotask integration in the Datto Networking online help.
-
Authenticate your Autotask resource account. This creates the connection between your Datto Network Manager and your Autotask instance.
IMPORTANT The resource used to authenticate the account will appear as the resource who creates all the Datto Networking Alert tickets and installs all the Datto Networking devices in your Autotask instance. This should be a regular resource, not an API User resource. You may want to create a dedicated resource for the integration named something like DNet Alert, but this is not required.
- Map the Datto Networks to their respective Autotask organization records.
- For ticket alerts:
- Select which Datto Networking Alerts will create Autotask tickets.
- Map the Network Manager Alert Severity values to the appropriate Autotask ticket priorities.
- For device creation:
- Map Datto Networking Device Types to device categories in Autotask. If a Datto Networking Device Type is not mapped to a device category, it will not be synced.
NOTE The selected device category will determine the product applied to the device. If there is no default product set up on the device category, the system product Equipment will be used.
NOTE Any changes made to device category mapping will not update devices that were previously synced. Devices added to Network Manager after the changes are made will use the new mapping when they are synced.
While the mapping required for the integration between Datto Network Manager and Autotask for both ticket alerts and device creation is managed in Datto Network Manager, you should still review your setup in Autotask to ensure the integration flows smoothly.
